As our Springfield customer base grew, so too did we.In 1995, a branch location was added in west Springfield on Durkin Drive, becoming the main headquarters for First Springfield Bank & Trust. Also in 1995, Farmers & Traders State Bank of
Merdosia expanded into the Jacksonville market. In 1997, The Bank of Charleston, having changed its name to The Bank, expanded into Mattoon. In 1997, Mt. Zion State Bank & Trust and First Springfield Bank & Trust merged to form Prairie
State Bank & Trust. In 1998, another bank branch was opened by Prairie State Bank & Trust in Decatur. In 2000, Farmers & Traders State Bank of Meredosia was merged into Prairie State Bank & Trust. Prairie State Bank & Trust has continued to grow, expanding into new markets, specifically Bloomington in 2001 and Champaign in 2005.
In December 2007, The Bank and Farmers & Merchants State Bank merged with Prairie State Bank & Trust so that our banking group may continue to offer our customers the best possible banking products and services.
