Carlinville National Bank began as the Carlinville Bank in 1888. Two years later the organization was converted to a National charter; since then, the name and basic ownership has not changed for over 100 years.

Leadership during organization, and for the next 50 years until his death, was provided by Abraham Lincoln (A.L.) Hoblit. Descendents and relatives-by-marriage of Mr. Hoblit (namely, P.O. Landon, Charles H. Ashworth, and James T. Ashworth) have shared those responsibilities over the years with Ira McCollom and his son-in-law, Maurice Zimmer, representing another prominent family in the bank's ownership and in the community. Current CEO duties are performed by Shawn Davis. If asked, each of these gentlemen would respond that the consistent growth and success of the organization is due to the professionalism and genuinely helpful attitude of the bank's staff.

Over the course of those same years, CNB progressed from pure pen-and-paper recording of transactions, to the precursors of today's electronic adding and proof machines, to the bank's first mainframe computer in 1980, to more recent conversion to microcomputer networking and image statement processing, and now Internet access to account information and transaction origination. All of these functions have remained "in-house", primarily due to management's belief that the most responsive service is dependent upon a total understanding and control of the process by trained employees.

This Internet site is an extension of that philosophy. We intend to maintain it as dynamic and full-featured. Yet most important are the bank employees behind each "click", many of them featured on pages respective to their areas of expertise. Please call on them directly in order to enjoy the total Carlinville National Bank experience.
